What do they say? Better later than never! It’s been exactly 2 months since our last vive la differénce post. It is indeed meant to be a monthly one. The fault lies entirely with me. The good news is that 2 boys have agreed to do it so there are treats lying ahead. Let’s make this official. Thank you igor and gerard for agreeing to do this. No doubt, we are all in great anticipation to see your results:)
For new readers:
The concept: each month I will invite one blogger. They will create and showcase one image/vignette. There are 20 themes and 20 objects for my guest to choose from. They choose 1 theme and up to 3 objects. I will then create an image/vignette based on their choice. Everyone has free reign on how to create the image. It can be simple photography, a drawing, a collage, a hand-painted image, a styled table top… the choice is yours! The fun part is that you, my readers, will see 2 versions inspired by the same subject matter. There is no right or wrong. There’s just ‘different’.
I’m delighted to introduce you to ingrid from oldschoolmastershouse.com.au. Ingrid is a set and costume designer based in sydney. You can see her website here.
Ingrid chose the theme of Armchair Travel together with the following objects: Glassware, Flowers and Scarves. Here are the results:
Armchair travel – still life… There is in an eames armchair, although that has been cropped out. I am a scarf person- and I thought of this one when i saw scarves and travel on the list- one of those 40s travel scarfs.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Armchair travel – still life… Tokyo, so many curiosities, from colour to culture, from design to zen habits, from food to chaos. The imagination is going wild! Be nice to see the differences and similarities to the uk. Dark and moody seemed appropriate here.
Thank you so much ingrid for giving us your time and inspiration. I always enjoy the challenge of my guest’s choice of theme and objects. It keeps me on my toes. I hope you all enjoy this and i’m aiming to do my next vive la differénce in a month time. I have the list of people who kindly agreed to be part of this. Feel free to add your name, if you haven’t done so yet! See you thursday!

I am very excited to join in! By the way, I can’t see your pic here, Tina…just a little blue question mark…
Ha. You are next up and I’m so excited. Apparently I’m not the only one…..:)
It is always so interesting to see the two different perspectives. Happy you were able to get two males to join the fun! Wait, that doesn’t sound right. 😉 Well, you know what I mean. Cannot wait to see the prompt and the outcome.
Happy new week, Tina!
hee hee, Theresa. Funny girl. I can’t wait to see what Gerard and Igor come up with as well. Oh, and I would like to join in as well…let me know, Tina!
Of course… it will be a pleasure! You are now on the list x
Hahahahahahaha….
Love the travel scarf..I have a vision of some beautiful lady travelling with one of these tied around her head in a sports car (red of course), theme beautifully interpreted Ingrid. Having travelled to Japan last year yours is definitely bring back memories Tina, also beautifully done!
Yes, scarves like these always remind me of films with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant… driving down the coastal road to Monte Carlo!
Ah, are you going to write a post about your trip to Japan? I bet it was incredible!! x
Ah-that corner of the UK platic map brings back memories-I bought the very same one from Biba (in ken high street I think) in 1970!!! Great feature sweetie. Looking forward to see what the boys do! X
Wow! Mine is not that old. I only arrived in the UK in 1980. I would have loved to have seen the original BIBA… must have been incredible!
Ah, yes, the boys….xx
So interesting to see the different take on the same theme. Both are lovely 🙂 x

Finally have some time to do some blog reading and I’m so happy that my first post is your vive la differénce! Armchair Travel – still life…, what a great topic choice/combo. Both are well … so different, lol. But both so great! Each one a specific feeling. Somehow I associate better with the second 😉
