    The 100 Day Project Challenge

    April 20, 2016

Wow! The 100 Day Project Challenge really threw me and I’m not easily thrown.

When I first came across this challenge devised by Elle Luna (in it’s 2nd year) a couple of weeks ago, I kind of clocked it but thought: nah, not for me…. As the starting date (19 April) approached I felt more and more compelled to join in. But what to choose? 100 day commitment? The daily time commitment! I cannot change my mind throughout! All these dilemmas seemed to create some sort of block in me.

Ok, I thought. I don’t do many collages anymore. I really fancy that. But I also knew that I didn’t want to spend more than 20 minutes a day because anything longer would make it a real time commitment. I loved both the January and March Creative Bug challenges but they were definitely a time commitment. However, we were given daily drawing subjects so that’s easier, right?

I changed my mind over and over again. I now know why that was. I wanted to a) challenge and stretch myself and b) educate or inspire others and it was only today, on the morning of Day 2 that I finally realised what I wanted to commit to and what would excite me for 100 days. I found a picture on my iPhone of a Mondrian inspired Smeg fridge I saw at the Ideal Home Show. Bang, it just came to me!

So, it is with pleasure and pride that I announce my final decision of what I will be doing for 100 days. I will each day choose an artist (some famous, maybe some not so famous) and do an art piece in their style, whether painting, collage, mixed media or anything else. I will organise myself and choose the majority of artists and styles so that I’m prepared and I’m going to aim to make a piece in no more than 30 minutes a day. I will also include a paragraph on Instagram on the artist so that if people haven’t heard of them then they get to know a little bit about them.

What kind of art will I make ? I will take inspiration from the artists, do little studies of my own, maybe use an aspect of something I did that day. The beauty is there are no rules here and I will decide on a day by day basis.

I would love you to follow me on #100DifferentStylesByColourliving.

Here is my piece on Mondrian inspired art. I was thinking of an alphabet.

To make this a little bit interactive, please let me know if you have a favourite artist you would like me to include into my 100 day project. Can’t wait to see what everyone else is doing.
