Vive La Différence – Tweety’s Modern Abode

June 28, 2012

A couple of weeks ago I was having a conversation with my friend holly from hvhinteriors. The premises of the discussion was our very apparent differences in our style and taste when it comes to interiors. Holly likes the more minimal, the more masculine and rather monochrome, with a little wood and concrete thrown in. I, on the other hand, am all about colour, bold patterns and funky and quirky designs. Quite different, would you agree?

As we were chatting away and laughing about all of this, holly re-assured me that the new project she was about to unveil would be more my cup of tea. Yep, she was right! Holly has just launched her new project: the design chef, recipes for delicious interiors. Actually the interiors are rather delicious and as each one is inspired by food i now see plenty of colour and am happy:)

With all this talk about taste differences I pondered: what kind of results would we obtain if each of us worked on the same ‘space’ simultaneously but separately? What kind of differences or similarities might be revealed? Further discussions were held and this post was born!

So, what kind of ‘space’, who for? Do we choose a fictitious client? Male or female? One look around my office space and the victim was located.

Meet tweety pie in his very own egg chair.

Can you think of a better fictitious client? I certainly can’t.

We felt that tweety pie, who clearly has such delectable taste, was ready for a modern abode to roam around freely. Yes?

So, in the spirit of this post, we leave it up to you to guess who designed what….. hmmmm, tricky, n’est pas? Really?! Oh, and by the way, there’s no right or wrong, there’s just ‘different’.

Vive la différence!

Vive la Différence - Tweety;s abode - Holly von Huehne

Vive la Différence - Tweety's abode - Tina Bernstein

And here is something for the tweety pie fans amongst us. Enjoy! Happy weekend. See you next week!

    Hi,

With the imagination of Colour living and hvh Interiors tweetie bird is in sure hands.

Interesting to see “la difference”. We can almost see the two sides of one person.

It’s interesting to see ‘la difference’ indeed…
Thank you for your nice comment!

Great post! I often think about taste, likes and dislikes and how they are influenced and sometimes even changed by the company wee keep. I’ve tried to think out of my comfort zone at TD and it really does make you produce something that you wouldn’t have expected! I guess Holly is top and Tina is the second board from the descriptions you just gave. Nice feature idea girls-fun! Xx

      Glad you enjoyed lovely x

Ha what a fun and great idea by two fellow bloggers I adore!! Well, I’d say Tweety’s first abode has HvH all over it, while his second pied-à-terre is a vivacious, colourloving design by colourliving’s Tina:-)

Igor, that’s such a lovely comment. Thank you from both of us:)

You two just put the biggest smile on my face. I’m liking this fun collaboration The first one is Holly’s space and the second one is Tina’s space. That was too easy. Have a wonderful weekend, T!

Ha.T, of course too easy for you who follow us both…. shall we make it harder for you next time???

Tweetie Pie is a girl? I never knew that!

Well I like the second one better. Although I’m not sure about that yellow chair as it looks a bit like a toilet. I like all those warm colours a lot.

How did you do this? In photoshop? They look really cool, like actual rooms!

Heehee! I’m so happy we came up with this fun creative experiment. I love both of our boards so much – Tweety will have a hard time choosing 😉 The video is so funny. Reminds me a lot of my childhood. That Tweety sure is cheeky!

Thanks for having me on your wonderful blog Tina!

    Xx.

I loved doing this, it was fun and hopefully also inspiring to my readers….

Maybe I should have this as a new category where I invite different bloggers to design their own interior/sapce/styling . It’s a more creative way and would also have the fun element. It would be my way of doing a DIY section. Yes, I think as I’m writing this I like the idea more and more…people could do whatever they want, a sketch, an embroidery, a photoshop collage etc etc… hhmmm, food for thought!!

      Loved having you here xx

tina, i was just about to suggest that very thing to you… why not broaden the challenge… eg, one room 5 ways? (or 3 ways, or whatever)… get a few different people to submit… it could easily be a regular monthly column… or build a room around 1 piece… sounds like fun, would love to join!

        • Reply tina July 1, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Sue, thank you so much… I wasn’t really thinking along those lines until I started commenting back…

          Done, new column!!

You know I was thinking how to get people to guest blog on Colourliving. This could be the start of it. Have different people join in and it’ll be fun for readers to see the difference.
So, you up for it. Good. Let me work out how to to do it. 1 Piece, a room, a theme, a colour etc etc and you can be first up:)
          Thanks x

Tweety is a lucky lady/chap? – love what you did – both of your designs are grand, but being eclectic and loving a bit of madness, you can guess which one is my favorite, Happy weekend, see you soon,

Poor Tweety, all this gender talk. Just let Tweety be Tweety:)

Tina darlin’ I love you… but I’d have to move in with Tweety in Holly’s place, especially for the view 😉 Great post idea you two! xx

      Now, there’s a surprise…..Mr. Grey:)

Now that is an interesting client! I love the windows. I have that photo in my inspiration file and plan to post it soon 😉

      Thanks Lisa.

There has been much debate over the gender of the client:)

You girls are so right. 🙂
I´m bored with the concept of right and wrong too.
It´s in every corner I look around today. Live the difference, live your life make it your own design. The difference makes it interesting and life so exciting.
