Vive La Différence – Armchair Travel

    October 15, 2012

What do they say? Better later than never! It’s been exactly 2 months since our last vive la differénce post. It is indeed meant to be a monthly one. The fault lies entirely with me. The good news is that 2 boys have agreed to do it so there are treats lying ahead. Let’s make this official. Thank you igor and gerard for agreeing to do this. No doubt, we are all in great anticipation  to see your results:)

    For new readers:

The concept: each month I will invite one blogger. They will create and showcase one image/vignette. There are 20 themes and 20 objects for my guest to choose from. They choose 1 theme and up to 3 objects. I will then create an image/vignette based on their choice. Everyone has free reign on how to create the image. It can be simple photography, a drawing, a collage, a hand-painted image, a styled table top… the choice is yours! The fun part is that you, my readers, will see 2 versions inspired by the same subject matter. There is no right or wrong. There’s just ‘different’.

I’m delighted to introduce you to ingrid from oldschoolmastershouse.com.au. Ingrid is a set and costume designer based in sydney. You can see her website here.

Ingrid chose the theme of Armchair Travel together with the following objects: Glassware, Flowers and Scarves. Here are the results:

Armchair travel – still life… There is in an eames armchair, although that has been cropped out.  I am a scarf person- and I thought of this one when i saw scarves and travel on the list- one of those 40s travel scarfs.

Armchair travel – still life… Tokyo, so many curiosities, from colour to culture, from design to zen habits, from food to chaos. The imagination is going wild! Be nice to see the differences and similarities to the uk. Dark and moody seemed appropriate here.

Thank you so much ingrid for giving us your time and inspiration. I always enjoy the challenge of my guest’s choice of theme and objects. It keeps me on my toes. I hope you all enjoy this and i’m aiming to do my next vive la differénce in a month time. I have the list of people who kindly agreed to be part of this. Feel free to add your name, if you haven’t done so yet! See you thursday!
