    new year resolutions

    January 1, 2012

Happy New Year! I have spent the past couple of days reflecting on the past year, looking at what I managed to achieve and what my goals are for the coming year. Many years ago I realised that, for me, new year resolutions didn’t quite work. I keep working at stuff all year round. I was inspired in the past few days to see so many people write and blog their own versions of what works for them. I have now found a system that works better for me and keep refining it. Personally, I have had a very good year with many achievements and am particularly proud of creating the colourliving website and, recently, this blog (which is about to take off). I find that looking at all the things we have achieved is a much better way of feeling confident and positive. It enables us to look at the coming year with hope and gusto, instead of beating ourselves up for the things we didn’t quite get to do.

How was your year? Are you thinking about some goals for 2012? Here are a couple of people who have developed some interesting ways of saying good bye to the old year and embracing the new one. Holly Becker, at Decor8, has a yearly end of year ritual that is fascinating and will uplift anyone. Chris Guillebeau, at the art of non-conformity, has a much more in-depth way of an annual review. I hope you find some of this inspiring and might start your own review.
