Junkaholique – The Last Jumble Sale

    August 22, 2013

Here’s the story. I read on le cool that there’s a vintage jumble sale. I recognised the name of the person holding the sale and sure enough it was a blog i had stumbled across a few months ago. Back to the sale. The poster reminded me that i had seen (and missed) the first one back in june.

It was the 4rth august and i remember going out for lunch that day and having a rather busy sunday. Late afternoon it occurred to me that i might regret not going to the said vintage jumble sale so i got on my vespa and made my way to hatton garden. Boy, am i pleased i did!

As soon as i walked through the corridor i knew i had hit the jackpot! The room was warm, inviting and upon entering i was greeted by the most gorgeous baby. I still think about her, wouldn’t you? Here she’s been carried by her dad.

I digress. This post is about the vintage jumble sale. Meet Artemis, with her daughter.

Artemis, amongst other things is the author of junkaholique and collector of ‘old junk, or treasures depending how you look at it‘. Although during the week she works with her husband as a jewellery designer, artemis opened a vintage online shop and IMHO has an amazing eye. She loves collecting bits and pieces and i guess her collections became too big for the flat she shares with her husband and daughter, hence the jumble sales!

We hit it off straight away and recognised our similar interests in blogging. I immediately fell in love with the space and the items for sale.

This chandelier was not for sale!

There were so many items i could have bought. Sheer lack of space at home does restrict spending.

This display reminded me of a paul smith shop, where you want to buy everything!

These enamel tags are nice to use as gift wrapping tags too.

Here below is my loot, what i came home with.

I love this perfume bottle. The colour is so delicate and i really like the art deco look, wouldn’t you agree?

    IMG_1965

Instead of the milk bottles i went with this beauty and have filled it with feather pens!

How charming are the illustrations on these classics?

I particularly love my new kitchen scales. Just working out what i can put on them. Me thinks a few faux flowers from abigail.

I know that this sale is over and that it was the last one as the space it was held in will be transformed into a workshop with big tables. Artemis will continue to sell through her online shop and who knows, one day we might see another advert for junkaholique’s third vintage jumble sale. Fingers crossed!

Artemis blogged about her sale here.

Do you love vintage? Do you visit many jumble sales? What would you have bought had you been at this sale?
