Wow. We’re already in February. Where did January go? Well, I was a little out of action after having caught the flu. Little did I know that although up and about, my energy was drained and I was still under the weather. I’m happy to report that since Saturday I’m back in full swing.
Miraculously, although under the weather I managed to complete the Sketching Exploration course I enrolled in back at the beginning of January. It seems that committing to a daily routine is not the problem. It’s more the time frame. I tend to start my drawings late in the evening, well into the night. If I want to maintain my daily sketching practice I will have to find creative ways to incorporate a sketch a day which does not take hours!!! Any tips welcome.
Meanwhile here’s my repertoire. I thought some of you might be interested to see the development of my work. It’ll be nice for me to look back and compare at the end of the year. Thank you to those who’ve been very supportive and complimentary over on Instagram and Twitter. It’s truly appreciated and keeps me motivated.
So now that Lisa Congdon’s course has finished I need to find more courses. Reason being that I’m much more motivated when somehow accountable and doing a life course is a great way to do that.
I’m also not so good with figurative drawing so I really want to practice and be able to incorporate animals, objects et cetera. I’ll keep you guys posted and will keep on showing my work on Instagram.
Some of you have been asking me which art materials I use. Here’s what I’ve been using in these sketches:
Sakura Micron Pens (in all different nib sizes)
Sakura Gelly Roll Pens (different colours, including white)
Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Big Brush Pens
Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Brush Pens
Uni-Ball Signo Broad in white
Sharpies (they are currently on offer for £9.99)
Stabilo Woody
Kuretake Gansai Japanese Watercolour Paint Set
Sketchbooks:
Moleskine watercolour notebook
Square shaped notebook
Arches Watercolour pad (grain satiné) as recommended by Katie from Paper Fashion
Maybe some of you want to join me in the daily(ish) sketching challenge. Go on……
Oh, and thank you Steller Stories for having published my Floral sketches in their Creative collection….
and my Cityscape Sketches in their Stellerverse collection.

Wow, these sketches are amazing Tina!! You should actually funnel this into a new Mapology project or think of other endeavours like wallpaper design, wrapping paper, posters! I see lots of potential! Oh and glad you are feeling better again! Happy new week!
I agree with Igor! These would be great as prints, posters, cards … also as digital stuff! I kept seeing your pictures on IG and I was always delighted, and envious of your talent. 😀
And I’ll second that. I reckon they could work well in those various formats that Igor mentioned. Great stuff indeed! 🙂 xo
Thank you Gerard… you guys are too kind xx
And yes, do check out Steller app. I love it. One of my favs.
PS. Must check out the Stellar app. Gx
Thank you Alexandra… for now, just playing.
Don’t be envious. We all have talents in many areas and it’s important we work on those in some ways. The grass is always greener somewhere else and I’ve learnt to accept my strength and weaknesses and work on my strength instead of focusing on my weaknesses.
xx
Hi Igor,
Thank you so much. Right now I’m just enjoying the daily ritual… it’s incredibly time consuming so have to figure out how to maintain it..
Thank you for your continued support!
WOW Tina, I am totally impressed by your skills. The class by Lisa looks and sounds amazing, I really should give sketching a go, I am hopeless at it though 😉 Happy start to FEB – hugs A xx
Thank you lovely Anya. You know I’ve always enjoyed this but since I started blogging my camera has taken up all my time. Have to figure out how to incorporate time for both of these creative outlets.
Hope it’s not to cold in Copenhagen. Hugs xx
Happy your feeling better Tina. Your sketching is fabulous and so detailed, I’m with Igor you could licence your designs. Love the colours just outstanding. xx
Hi lovely. Muse admit I’m somehow still not back to normal…. now I know what it means when people tell me they’ve had flu and it dragged on…
Aww, thank you so much. I am enjoying experimenting and just wish I had more hours in the day.
Thank you Catherine. Ssnding love xx
Gosh, that is amazing!!! You are so creative! I nearly always only look at the pictures first and thought you were featuring a particular artist, but that artist is you! x
Hello Trinske,
Ha. Now I’m truly humbled…. thank you so much. What a great compliment. Glad you enjoy them.
xx
Goodness me-you’ve done tons Tina! Well done you and so perfectly in the Lisa Congdon style, which I think suits your graphic training perfectly. Who knows where all this may lead! xx
Not sure how that happened. All I can tell you is that my sleeping is turned upside down, I’m still feeling under the weather but I have a full sketchbook:-) weird!!!
Although I studied Graphics I realised later I would have been far better suited to do textiles. Maybe this is my outlet. And as for where/what this might lead to… no plans, just explorations. Thank you sweetie xx
LOVE your sketches – congratulations on a wonderful creative start to 2015. x
Thank you Shona…. not sure my daily sketching challenge was such a good idea… as if I haven’t got enough on my plate:-) x
wow! I’m speechless! When is your exhibition?
Hahahahahaha, now steady on woman:-)) x
I have really enjoyed looking at your 2am sketches on Instagram, they are lovely. I think the collage ones are my favourite.
Hahahahaha. Thank you.
Yes, I wish I could do more collage and detailed ones. Time… it’s really been overwhelming me xx
These are amazing Tina, I’m not surprised they take you hours. I can’t quite understand how I’ve missed them on Instagram either. Look forward to seeing more x
Thank you Emma:-)
Yes, still in shock how long they take. Somehow I don’t seem to know the word: ‘simple’ x
Amazing sketches, Tina! The flowers are so cheerful and sweet! Every single one is so different and unique 🙂 Thank you for sharing…you are inspiring xx
Thank you Jocelyn… aww, always glad to make people smile and love to inspire others xx
