    UrbanJungleBloggers – 1 Plant, 3 Stylings

    June 22, 2016

It’s been busy around here and since we’re launching brand new Mapology Guides next week, this is a very quick hello (and an even quicker styling) from me. I did not want to miss in the Urban Jungle Bloggers fun, so I showed up!

Urban Jungle Bloggers is a monthly series, devised by Igor and Judith. The idea is to get some green into our homes, especially for us urban folks! Every month they invite bloggers to share ideas for creating an urban jungle through styling challenges, DIYs, green tips and tricks. Every month there is a different theme on the topic. You can follow and get more urban jungle bloggers inspiration on their Pinterest boards and Facebook page.

    June’s theme is: 1 plant – 3 stylings

Today I’m introducing you to the latest addition which is this beautiful orchid. There’s a story attached to it.
A week or so ago I found my Vespa fallen on the floor outside my flat. My neighbour had alerted me to it and when I went to check it out I had the feeling it was the builder’s van which was parked in front of it when I arrived home. I mentioned this to my neighbour and he said that the van belonged to a builder who’s doing some work 2 houses away.

Armed with this information I decided to confront him the next day. The next morning my Vespa wouldn’t start so I had to call out the RAC (automobile recovery service). Lo and behold that said builder came out of the house he’s working on so I crossed the road to speak to him. Within seconds I could see from his face that he had no clue what I was talking about and when I explained he realised that it could have been him but due to the blind spot on builders vans he had no idea he knocked my Vespa. He was truly sorry and came to have a look. Meanwhile the RAC guy had managed to start it up again and we established that the Vespa not starting was due to the fall. Also my break lever was very badly bent and needed replacing. Let’s not even start on the scratches.

I asked the builder, named Paul, for £30 to get a new break lever and he was happy to bring it round the next day. When he turned up, he not only brought me the cash but he brought this beautiful orchid. I was very touched. Since then I’ve got him some small jobs with my neighbour and no doubt I’ll be using him in the near future myself. I love stories like these. They warm my heart. The point is that he didn’t try to deny what happened and he behaved like a real gentleman. Something I miss in this country when it comes to these matters.

Today is the 23rd June and we’ll know shortly if Britain decided to vote in or out. I’m hoping (and am fairly confident) that we’ll stay in which is what DEFINITELY needs to happen. Unfortunately (with German nationality) I cannot vote but fingers crossed people will see sense.

Back to the challenge. A little vignette in my bedroom.
