Zoozoo – Friends for Life

April 3, 2014

Cruising through Berlin on a Vespa we were stopped in our tracks when passing the Hotel Amano, a favourite haunt of mine. From the windows we saw these colourful animal sculptures and just had to get off and take a look.

In the lobby there were the most playful dog sculptures (Bassets) I have yet to see. Mesmerised, we wanted to find out everything about them.

ZooZoo (Zu:Zu) – friends for life – is a mix of nature & pop art, a tribute to the wild life and the animal world. Founded in April 2013 by Elwira Lerche it’s a small collection of colorful, powerful and beautiful animals for everyone. They’re easy to handle, easy to love, friends for life and great in an urban environment.

Made out of 100% Resin or Fibreglass, the animals are handmade, limited editions and suitable both for indoor and outdoor. I’m in LOVE!

Meet Estelle, the Basset! Available in 7 colours in high gloss. Estelle has a big passion for shopping bags. She is very much into the smell of fresh food and always expecting a goodie from her tin-opener.

Meet Esmeralda, the Alligator! Available in 8 colours in high gloss. Esmeralda is afraid of ending as a clutch. Therefore she is searching for a perfect hideaway while presenting herself as part of the art.

Meet Parzival, the Baby Lion! Available in 5 colours. Parzival is expected to become a hunter par excellence. In lieu thereof he cultivates a strong passion for wall-to-wall carpeting and grey flannel.

Giraffe – no longer offered. They now make a Baby Giraffe instead

It all started with an Elephant, Fernando, to be exact.

I don’t know about you but I love these fun animals. I think Estelle, the Basset is definitely going onto my 50th wishlist on Pinterest. The only dilemma is: what colour do I want her in? Maybe you guys can help out! I think I fancy a special colour (available on request).

If you want to see all animals on display and you’re in Berlin, hop over to the Hotel Amano and it’s sister, Hotel Mani, part of the Amano Group, where you’ll find them all on display, cheering up the hotel lobbies and welcoming all guests. Happy new week x

The basset hound expression has been captured perfectly. One of those would fit in perfectly at your place. What colour? Hmm..that’s a tough one, I like pink but I think maybe yellow for you. xx

Ha. Hasn’t it?? Just love love love.

It’s so funny because we were looking at all those colours and it really depends on the interior.
I think, on reflection, that a lighter colour would go here better. I don’t want it to fight with all the strong colours I already have.

Not as good as the real thing, but hey, much less work and stress:-)) xx

Oh I love these animals – my fave is naturally Estelle in Audrey’s pink (bet you thought I was going for the black ha ha) Hope you’re well, have a marvellous weekend, Ax

Now I’m surprised. Really, in Audrey’s pink? They all looked incredible..
No, didn’t think you would chose the black one. Again, in the right setting it would look amazing.

      I also loved Esmeralda:-)

This was such a great moment from your Berlin visit. I’m so glad I was there with you when we discovered these wonderful creatures! They are such a sight to see. So easy to connect with somehow. I love them too, and so glad you posted about them here for everyone to enjoy.

I think for sure an Estelle needs to make its way into ColourlivingHQ 🙂 Maybe in your “artefact pink”? But I’m really loving Estelle in turquoise … hmm.. the choice will be hard Tina!

    Great pics!!!!

    xoxo

I loved how we were on the Vespa and cruising around only to have passed Hotel Amano.
Like many things, photography doesn’t do it justice. To see them in real life, their size, their expressions, their texture is so different.
How lucky we got to see the whole collection. What a treat!

Oh, glad you agree Estelle needs to come and watch over ColourlivingHQ….
I’m also tempted by the Turquoise. I feel that Estelle needs to be in a more serene and calming colour…. will let you know:-)) x

This probably won’t surprise you but…..I love all these little cuties! I mean, how cute is Fernando? Estelle is my kind of girl, beige! Thank you for making me smile Tina 🙂 xx

Haha. No, not surprised! I agree, Fernando is adorable.. so is the Baby Lion.
Have you seen The Doberman bros?

How gorgeous and regal are they???

Estelle in beige would look incredible in your interior. Here, I think I would need a bit more of a brighter colour:-))

Glad to have you on the blog today x

Oh those colours are just perfect for you Tina. I would say yellow for you although I’d be interested to know what made to order colour you’d go for. M xx

You know the yellow and pink would look fab and they looked stunning in the Hotel we saw them in. Somehow I’m wanting Estelle to be less dominant?!
Not sure at all but I’ll let you guys know… decisions, decisions:-))Hahahaha #firstworlddilemmas

I love these! How adorable – Estelle would be gorgeous in any colour, and I think of bright colors when I think of you. But personally I’d go for white – it goes with everything, and can really stand out amongst lots of other color. I like Esmerelda the alligator…an homage to my roots 🙂

They are really great. I know that white would go with everything but in my flat it would stick out like a sore thumb:-)

LOVE Esmeralda, but she’s too big to fit in here. She really needs space to show off her beauty:-))

Hmmmmm, she looked amazing in the Hotel Amano as all their walls are painted in a dark colour. They all looked great. Can’t choose at the moment.

How cool is this. You were cruising around on your vespa and came across these dog sculpures! That’s crazy right? They were meant to be in your path! I really like that giraffe, I can imagine the baby giraffe would so cute. xD
