Vive La Différence – A Day in Berlin

March 4, 2013

Morning. It’s monday, a new week and it’s meant to get into double figures. Really? It’s been so cold I cannot remember what’s it’s like not to freeze:-)

It’s vive la différence monday and i’m delighted to feature the lovely Holly and Trisha from we heart home. Holly is originally from montreal and Trisha from london. They both now live in berlin and work at fashion for home, where they run their blog from.

For new readers:

The concept: each month I will invite one blogger. They will create and showcase one image/vignette. There are 20 themes and 20 objects for my guest to choose from. They choose 1 theme and up to 3 objects. I will then create an image/vignette based on their choice. Everyone has free reign on how to create the image. It can be simple photography, a drawing, a collage, a hand-painted image, a styled table top… the choice is yours! The fun part is that you, my readers, will see 2 versions inspired by the same subject matter. There is no right or wrong. There’s just ‘different’.

Holly and Trisha chose the theme: a day in berlin with the object: clothing. Here’s their journey!

A Day In Berlin.

Sunday.

11:30am.

Woke up late. Need to be at morgenland for brunch with my bro half an hour ago. No time to change, stay in pajamas. Grab purse from last night. Jump on the U1. Soon I’ll be devouring a delicious, all-you-can-eat buffet for less than €10. I think the lady next to me just heard my stomach growling.

4pm.

Finally managed to get some proper clothes on. Gone for ‘Minnie Mouse Chic’ for my weekly Kaffee & Kuchen with friends at oberholz. THE best homemade ice tea in Berlin. Don’t even get me started on their cake… I could eat it all day. Not cheap, but a special Sunday treat!

9pm.

Slip into the little black dress. Off to beckett’s kopf for a first date. Eek! However it turns out, I know I’ll at least enjoy my Isle of Smile cocktail. Wish me luck.

A true scenario:
I take the plane to berlin knowing i only have a day to go and visit everyhting i want. The maps and guides come out. The stickers at the ready. I mark out my route.

When in berlin, i hire a vespa and follow my carefully planned journey. I stop at all my favourite places, while exploring some new ones. Here are some of them:

oliv
dudu
rsvp
wunderkind
buchstabenmuseum
do you read me?!

There never seems to be enough time when in berlin. Time is up and i’m heading back to the airport plotting what to see when i next return!

Yay! We love to see the differences! Combine our items and suggestions and you’re set for the BEST day in Berlin 🙂

Trisha and I can’t stop gushing over that yellow pen and feather. You have the coolest things.

Thanks you so much for having us on. We had so much fun preparing this post, really a blast! Our collegues were all very curious as to why we were trying to hang our clothes from exterior walls in the courtyard of our office building and photographing them! You can’t tell from these images but it was really windy, lol.

Wishing you a great time at MTB and your design tour this weekend. Oh how we wish we could be there 🙂

    xoxo H&T

Girls, or shall I say Ladies…. Thanks a million for your combined efforts, swift delivery and generally very creative output!
It was a real pleasure to feature you here and since Holly was the catalyst for this whole series, I’m always indebted!!

Am sure people liked our mini guide to Berlin which does come in handy for The Hive!

Haha. Can just imagine your colleagues faces… it’s an attribute to you both to make it look ‘non windy’.. who knew???

Thanks. I wish you guys would be here too… meant to rain though;-(

Not been to Belin as yet, but its very high on my list of places i really want to go to – real shame I can’t get to Meetheblogger. I will get rid of this blasted day job soon, and actually have the time to go to stuff!!! 😉 xx

I adore these vive la différence posts and seeing the contrasts between Ms Colourliving and her guest(s).

Holly & Trisha… fantastic idea. An enigmatic day in Berlin in very cool abstract pictures, put into context in words. Love it! And Tina, your journey is rapturous. I’ve looked at your image several times and keep seeing something new. DUDU looks great and I’ve been to ‘do you read me?!’ Loved it!

    Thanks y’all xx

I really likes these vive la difference posts. The clothes on the wall are great, especially the shoes. Love your photo too, Tina. I’m curious about the little yellow star button in the middle. Is it there for composition or does it have significance?

    • Reply tina March 7, 2013 at 2:07 pm

Thanks Alison. I showed my cousin your cards this morning. She loved them!

Thanks for noticing details. The yellow star button is meant to indicate clothing etc which was the chosen object… x
