Graffiti and Street Art

December 15, 2014

Happy new week everyone. Woa! What weather we’ve been having here in London. Cold (mild for December), crisp and sunny. The perfect combo! On one hand that’s wonderful. Of course, there’s the worry about climate change and what it’s doing to our planet.

After an incredibly stressful week I had this real urge to go and fill up my creative well. A long and colourful walk was much needed. One is never far away from incredible inspiration in London. The city is bustling with creativity and visual fodder. One such fodder is graffiti and street art. I’m proud to live in a city where this form of expression is welcome and in abundance. I already blogged about graffiti in Berlin.

Here’s some I found in Camden Town.

How striking is this tribal figure? It really made me stop in my tracks.

A rather nice hand painting.

Ok, maybe a little on the macabre side but I loved the colour combinations. Reminded me of spring clothes. What do you say?

I always loved street art, and one of my favourite things to do when I lived in London, was to walk and walk and take pictures of the things I saw, usually street art. Wish I had time to do more of that:) Here it has been pouring down for what seems like an eternity – but also mild for the season. And yes worrying really. Happy week sweets Ax

I know. It’s hard when we travel somewhere to do all the things we want to do. I think you need a 4 weeks stay in London and I think I should be a big part of that:-)))
Hope you’re having a beautifully sunny January xxx

So wonderful when street artists are free to express themselves through their art for us to enjoy on sides of buildings and laneways. We have alot of graffitti in our laneways in Melbourne city and it’s wonderful. Hope you get to have a break over Christmas of some sort, it’s been a busy, exciting second half of the year for you. Here’s to great success and every happiness for 2015.

I agree. It always moves me because there’s something about the scale that is all encompassing.
Thank you lovely Catherine and I’m feeling relaxed at the moment (long may it last) x

The tribal figure is stunning. I do love graffiti art whenever it’s done well. We have pockets in Belfast & of course the city is famous (or infamous) for its political street murals.

Hope your creative well was sated 🙂 xx

It stopped me in my tracks and I could have starred at it for EVER. So engaging, so deep and thought provoking and those colours!!!

Would love to see some of the street graffiti in Belfast. Must come and visit xx

I love graffiti, even the word is great.
I especially like the top one, so different from the usual stuff.
