Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

August 8, 2013

It’s all happening in dalston, trust me! This is the second post of an inspiring area in london. Earlier this week, i blogged about street feast taking over a car park. There’s one more post coming in the next couple of weeks on yet another inspiring venture, so stay tuned!

Today, let me introduce you to the dalston eastern curve garden, build on the site of an old railway line. It’s next to the gorgeous and well-known hackney peace carnival mural, painted in 1985.

The garden was built in 2010 as an initiative to transform strategic public space in dalston. It was identified as a green route and thus an eco concept emerged.

After funding had seized, they decided to open an air cafe and will shortly also be serving food.

The freshly pressed lemonade was a delight!

All tables have these self-grown wild flower arrangements. It’s all so unpretentious!

There are lots of activities for both children and adults, so check out their events calendar.

I love all the growing of herbs, vegetables and flowers and you’ll find a huge amount of green space to lounge and relax on. For those, who don’t like sitting on blankets and cushions, there are enough tables and chairs around.

Simply decorated and yet so effective, don’t you think?

I first went a couple of years ago and was impressed then. Now, I’m loving it. It’s my new secret place to hang out in but as i’ve now revealed it to all of you, we might as well have a london bloggers meetup there before the weather turns. It’s ok to bring our own snacks as long as we buy drinks and some cakes from the cafe and help them to sustain themselves.

I don’t know about you but where else in london can you find such a wild space? Any takers for the meetup?

Happy weekend everyone.

What a gorgeous looking place! I can’t believe how much Dalston has changed. I did a shoot there 15 years ago and it wasn’t the best, but I obviously didn’t have the foresight! Love the kids paintings on the wall-particularly great shot Tina! xx

Haha! I think 15 years ago it would have been very different.
The foresight would have been to buy property there:-)

The place is hard to photograph and looks much nicer in real life. I hope you’ll come to the meetup.

Shame you couldn’t make Friday’s dinner. It was really fun xx

I love the pics Tina, and Dalston looks very different from when I used to live in the UK. Absolutely amazing ambience in the area now. Just LOVE London in the Summer.
    Happy weekend Love, speak soon,
    Axx

Dalston is unrecognisable. There are so many new places to explore and soon it will be too ‘yuppy’. It’s a bit like Shoreditch was years ago…

The weather in London has done us proud this summer.
      xx

Oh, I’m so glad you can make the meetup. I don’t think I’ve seen you since the Design Tour in March?

Yes, I love that Dalston has this edgy and creative vibe to it. It’s multi-cultural and so diverse. xx

I think your photos look fab Tina. I think nothing is ever captured as great in a photograph of a place like actually being there though. Always better to be delighted than disapointed!x
